100 Day Celebration

Celebrating a huge accomplishment in the Arms household today. Thad and I have officially gone 100 days without refined sugar!

When I was diagnosed with Celiac, Thad stepped up in support of me and we made our home gluten free.  We completely cleaned and transformed our entire living space to honor what I physically needed.  As my health improved so did our quality of life!  When Thad’s care team began discussing the potential support a ketogenic diet could offer his brain, my little research geek kicked in … I was resistant for a few months knowing how significant the change felt for me!  (Notice he jumped in with me and I wasn’t sure if I could jump in with him.)

I knew it would be a challenge since sugar of some form is in pretty much everything – When I finally committed the time effort and energy that would be required, we went all in!  When we watched the Broken Brain series by Dr. Mark Hyman, it all clicked and we went from a season of change to a lifestyle commitment.  Our plan was 100 days and then re-evaluate.

I planned and prepared and got the first few weeks planned out …. Now I wonder what took me so long.  I’ve been making our own mayo and salad dressings; meal planning and actually cooking; eating lots of meat and veggies; snacking on a variety of nuts; and a few berries when we want dessert And yes – we maintained our new lifestyle on a week long cruise with my mom loving on her desserts! Coolest thing ever!!!

I promise – we have not developed some mystical superhuman will power … we made a decision and tapped into the tools (thank you Plexus!), resources (thank you google) and support (thank you friends and Facebook) we have – If you want to know how good healthy feels, we can totally share our secrets with you!
