Big Scary Life-changing Prayers

praying womanJanuary 10, 2016

Nothing like a big even to zero in on what you want and why!  I have a very good life … and I know that I was made for more!  Ephesians 2:10 tells me I am God’s masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus, to do the good things He planned for me long ago.  When Thad and I took time to really talk today, it hit us both that we are playing small and not fully stepping into what God wants us to do as a Husband and Wife team.  God will completely transform us, our marriage, our life and our service, it we let Him.

So now we pray.

Vegas, Here We Come

vegasJanuary 9, 2016

Today was Super Saturday for Plexus.  Outside of annual convention, it is the largest training that our corporate office puts on for its ambassadors.  Nothing like a day filled with incredible training and education that motivates, inspires, and energizes all who attend! They unveiled a brand-new Success Kit chock-full of everything an Ambassador needs to build a solid business, from Day One to the highest rank of Diamond Ambassador!

At the end of the day – registration opened for our annual convention at the MGM in Las Vegas.  6 months after last year’s convention in Phoenix we ranked up to Gold – and momentum is on our side!  I can’t wait to see where the next 6 months takes us!  Registration complete.  Hotel room reserved.  Airfare purchased.  Vegas, Here We Come!

Clean eating takes preparation

veggies January 8, 2016

We have had the goal of clean healthy eating in the past and it always felt too hard or too expensive. This year – we are starting with a Facebook group of over 400 people sharing tips, ideas and encouragement.

A collective group really can make a huge difference in mindset and my belief of what is possible. I am getting great recipes, quick meal ideas, encouragement and a little humor too. one of the best tips so far – plan for a week then buy and prep everything on one single day.  We shall see how it goes! My sincere hope and prayer is this is the start of new habits and simplicity in healthy eating for the long haul.

Starting the Whole30 Challenge

whole 30January 7, 2016

Today is our official start date!

For the next 30 days:

no sugar, no grains, no beans, no dairy, and no alcohol

I am going to clean house so to speak. I will eat food mostly the way God made it.  This will include lots of fruits, veggies, nuts, eggs, and a variety of meats.  Loads of yumminess is heading my way!

Physically fit or pfft

whitneyJanuary 6, 2016

Today was my first day back to Camp Gladiator in several weeks and 5:15a came so early … I never thought I would miss Whitney, our lead trainer – but I did miss her over the holidays.  She knows her stuff and is really making a difference in my life.  She can kick my heiny to the moon and back without really trying! And I can still celebrate. I was able to do more and hang longer than when I first started – there is improvement and I know there is still a long way to go.  She is helping me dig to a new level of fitness that I didn’t know existed … it will be fun to see where I am in September after a full year.

I never considered what my body could or couldn’t do. The lingering thought of “it will just happen” gave me a false sense of security. I completed triathlon’s up to the Olympic distance and ran a half marathon and felt great in the accomplishment … now 3 years out from a life changing medical crisis, celebrations and gratitude prevails at what others consider minor accomplishments … my bonus four words today – Never ever compare yourself!

Determine What is Important

psalm-46-10January 5, 2016

Time to Be still and listen to what God says is most important … time to get my priorities in line. He gives me 24 hours in each day and I want to use them well!

Twenty-one Years of Marriage

wedding dayJanuary 4, 2016

W.O.W. Hard to believe that it was 21 years ago today that I became Mrs. Thad Robert Arms. When we got married, I knew that we were married for life no matter what happened … I just didn’t know we would be so challenged by our own sin and selfishness. The fact that we are still married proves beyond a shadow of a doubt the goodness, greatness, grace and mercy of God. It was not always easy – in fact seasons actually felt impossible. Today, I am grateful to still be Mrs. Thad Robert Arms. It is one of the best parts of becoming Lisa. Thank you Thad for helping me become who it is God wants me to be …. I love you!

Tim Keller describes it best in his book The Meaning of Marriage:

someday [you] are going to be standing not before the minister but before the Lord. And they will turn to each other without spot or blemish. As [you] hope to hear God say, “well done, good and faithful servants. Over the years you have lifted one another up to me. You sacrificed for one another. You held one another up with prayer and thanksgiving. You confronted each other. you rebuked each other. You hugged and you loved each other and continually pushed each other toward me. And now look at you. You’re radiant.”

Consistency is the foundation

repeatedly doJanuary 3, 2016

It took a whopping 48 hours to realize that God is going to have me focus on consistency with every breath. Thad and I have some big dreams and goals for the year for our health, our marriage and our business. We can dream and plan all day long, but until there is consistent action nothing will happen. Change happens with consistent action in a new direction.  I can do something every day to work towards my goals.

Steady. Proportional. Remain upright. I can do this …. baby steps. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Thad, Bubby, Zeke and Me

DSC_0021January 2, 2016

Family. You will hear a lot about them and so I thought you might like to be introduced =).

Thad is my hubby … we met in September 1993 at the Garth Brooks concert at Texas Stadium. He love Jesus and leads me well. He has taught me the value of playtime, downtime, and the perfect art of naps. He is the official King of Dorkdom and it took me a while, but I now embrace my role of Queen!

Bubby and Zeke are my twin boys – the four legged furry kind! They are schnorkies – a schnauzer yorkie mix. They love to run, go to the dog park, chase squirrels, play catch and will still snuggle and love in a puppy pile that we are often at the bottom of.

Bubby is the little one at just under 11 pounds. He also goes by Tiny Bubbles or Dragonslayer. He is way more Yorkshire Terrier in his personality – feisty and fun loving. He takes good care of me and seems to have the ability to let me know in advance when something neurological is going to happen.Punkin (14)

Zeke is the big one. He also goes by Zekie-man and Tank. He is totally unaware of the fact that he is pushing 30 pounds and truly believes he is the same size as Bubby which is quite precious when he tries to fit in the same spaces. He is a big cuddly lap dog and will sit my you and lean on you with or without invitation.

And we have one angel girl Punkin … It has been 5 years since she went to the rainbow bridge, and we are still remembering the lessons she taught us while she lived.

Today is Day One

2016January 1, 2016

2015 felt like it was filled with amazing amounts of transformation and change in the Arms household. In reality, there was only one big change – my husband and I both decided to chase God and that changed everything else

A friend a few years ago captured the essence of her life in 4 words every day. Some was profound and yet many days captured the joy in the simplicity of living life. Those that know me, know I will take the simple and make it complex – It is time to just surrender into the joy of the life God gave me … This year I will be different.

Today really is my day one. This is the year that I can become Lisa. Daughter of the King. Wife of Thad. Mom to my furry twin boys. Friend to many. Mentor to some. And completely blessed beyond measure. I am choosing to open the door to anything and everything God has for me in 2016. Thanks for joining me for the journey.
